IT for Agriculture Forum MOA Signing between NACA, SEAFDEC, IWMI, AIT, APRTC, NECTEC, DOF, and FAO
In Thailand, the agricultural information network has not been properly set up yet. Technology transfer and provision of agricultural services are not linked among the organization involved.
On January 24, 2003, a delegation from the City and Regional Planning and Regional, University of North Sumatera Medan, Indonesia visited AIT.
The visit is aimed at making a comparative study in the area of in regional planning and city planning.

Young Huy Lee on Research Sabbatical at AIT
Professor Young Huy Lee (left) is on research sabbatical at AIT for a month. He is currently working intensively with Professor Dennes Bergado and based at the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering Program.
AIT conducts studies with BIOTEC
The Aquaculture Program, SERD, Asian Institute of Technology recently signed an agreement with BIOTEC to conduct a study and project on aquaculture. The studies will be conducted by Dr. Amrit Bart and Dr. Yang Yi.

Dr. Amrit Bart will conduct a study on 'Cryogenic preservation of threatened Pangasiid catfishes in Thailand'. The Pangasiid catfish indigenous to the Thai waters, while threatened from various courses with numbers dwindling rapidly, also represent opportunity as prime candidate species for aquaculture.
AIT Community School's Sports Day
Screaming, shouting, cheering and laughter spreaded all over the playing field behind the Administration building on January 24, 2003 at the AIT Community School?s Annual Sports Day 2003. The event aims to educate young pupil through the use of the body and its movement and to develop physical competence.

SERD Computer Laboratories
The SERD Computer Laboratories I and II in the Main SERD Building, comprising of 80 high-end
PCs connected to the campus-wide Ethernet and ATM Network, provide support to all students,
faculty and staff in their computer-aided courses, training and research.
New SERD Field of Study Coordinators
In accordance with the Institute Reform, effective January 2003, the academic structure of the
School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) will comprise of the Dean's office
and the 10 Fields of Study (FoS), listed below, which are responsible for, mainly, curriculum
development, research, training and sponsored project activities.
The Professor Wen-Jei Yang's Prize
The AIT community expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Professor Wen-Jei Yang for his
generous donation of US$5,000 to establish the Professor Wen-Jei Yang Prize at AIT with the goal of
rewarding the best students graduating from the School of Civil Engineering and as an encouragement
to provide healthy and productive competition among the students.
Welcome Faculty
The School of Advanced Technologies is pleased to welcome Prof. Sambasiva Srinivasan,
currently a Professor of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India.
Prof. Srinivasan is a Visiting Professor in the Microelectronics Program for a period of three months
from January 5 to April, 2003. He is seconded to AIT by the Government of India.
