Board of Trustees Meeting
The AIT Board of Trustees on Monday, October 28, 2002 met at the AIT Conference Center. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Anand Panyarachun, Chairman of the Board. Attendance included: H.E. Dr. Thanat Khoman, Chairman Emeritus, Mr. Viroj Phutrakul, Vice Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee, H.E. Mr. Jan Axel Nordlander, Ambassador of Sweden and Vice Chairmen of the Board and the Executive Committee.
AIT Board of Trustees Retreat
Prior to the Board meeting, the AIT Board of Trustees held its first ever Retreat on October 26-27 at the Eastern Star Golf Resort and Executive Conference Center, Banchang, Rayong. The Retreat was hosted by the Chairman of the AIT Board, H.E. Anand Panyarachun, and was attended by more than 20 Trustees, members of the AIT Administration and senior faculty.
UEEM reappointed as WHO Collaborating Center
The Urban Environmental Engineering and Management program has been re-appointed by the World Health Organization as a WHO Collaborating Center in the field of Water Supply and Waste Disposal for a period of four years.
FACULTY PROMOTIONS
Upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate, and with the endorsements of the Dean of the School of Environment, Resources and Development and the Provost, Prof. Jean Louis-Armand, AIT President, has approved the promotion of the following faculty members to the rank of Associate Professor, effective January 1, 2003:

Doctoral Thesis Presentation
Mr. Thai Thanh Ha (SMP999676), a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of International Business, School of Management, will have his final examination on Friday, November 15 at 5:00 p.m., in Room 110A (SOM Seminar Room).
His dissertation is entitled 'Entrepreneurial Orientation, Business Strategies and Firm Performance: A Comparative Study of Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises in Vietnam and Thailand'

Worsak Appointed as Advisor to Thai Transport Minister
On October 10, Prof. Worsak Knok-Nukulchai, Dean SCE, was appointed by His Excellency Suriya Juengrungeangkit, Minister of Transport, as his personal advisor on strategic matters concerning the construction of the New Bangkok International Airport.
International Public Symposium on 'Challenges to Human Security in a Borderless World'
On December 11, 2002, at 9:20 a.m., H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over the opening ceremony of the International Public Symposium on 'Challenges to Human Security in a Borderless World' at Chulalongkorn University.
