President Jean-Louis Armand met with H. E. Mr. Pham Gia Khiem (right), Deputy Prime Minister of Viet Nam and other senior officials on 20 March 2002. Receiving visiting AIT President in Ha Noi, the Deputy Prime Minister praised AIT for its international standard programmes which have made valuable contributions through the training of highly skilled workers in Viet Nam.

On 19 March, Prof. G. Nanayakkara, Director of Post-Graduate Institute of Management (PIM) and Mr. Lalith Weerathunge, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, and Member of the Board of Management, PIM, Sri Lanka, visited AIT to explore possible collaboration between PIM and AIT. The collaboration will mainly focus on SOM's Masters, Split P.h.D programs, as well, as faculty exchange and joint collaboration.

NSTDA and AIT to launch a pilot tele-lecture project

A pilot tele-lecture project in microelectronics will be launched, based on the agreements between Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and between NSTDA and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The test program transmitted from Tokyo Tech via Superbird B-2 satellite was received at AIT on 22 March.
