In recognition of their outstanding service to the AIT Community over the past two years, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, presented members of Guardforce Security Service who are stationed at AIT with tokens of appreciation.
CHILD CENTER-PLAYSCHOOL MAY 2002 REGISTRATION
Registration for NEW children will take place from 1 March to 29 March, 2002. Playschool is for children from 2 years and six months. Child Center is for children from 5 to 11 years old. Application forms are available in the office.

HAPPY FACES FROM DIFFERENT RACES
Rija, Amy, Nabeela, Mrs. Sonia and of course, me, Aiden, had very happy faces on the 13th of February 2002. It was the day of our trip to the Girl Guide Headquarters in Bangkok, and all the Girl Guides from around Thailand (Representatives were chosen for each troop, otherwise there would be too much children) were there! We were representing the AIT Child Center, our school.
AIT mobilizes its expertise in organic farming and certification in Thailand
Increasing consumer awareness of food supply and health has resulted in a demand for crop production systems that are pesticide-free or use reduced amounts of synthetic pesticides, raising the need for standardized certification of organic farming.
VISITING AIT
An internship arrangement for students from James Madison College at the Michigan State University (MSU) was discussed during the visit of Dr. Murari Suvedi, Assistant Dean, International Studies and Program, and Dr. Grant Littke, Coordinator of Field Study Program, JMC/ MSU, on 7 February.
SERD faculty appointed as member of GEF Scientific and Advisory Panel
Prof. S. C. Bhattacharya, a faculty member of the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), has been appointed as a member of the Scientific and Advisory Panel of the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
In his congratulatory remarks, Prof Chongrak Polprasert, SERD Dean, said, 'Prof.

Working Meeting on 'Peacemaking and International Insecurity in the 21st Century' at AIT
NGO leaders, academics, activists, and peacemakers from throughout Asia and beyond
met for a working meeting on 'Peacemaking and International Insecurity in the 21st Century'
at AIT, on 10-13 February 2002. It was organized by Santi Pracha Dhamma Institute (SPDI).
Translated into English, SPDI stands for Peace, People (Participatory Democracy), and Justice.
Blood donation
The Thai Red Cross Society's bloodmobile is scheduled to obtain blood donation
on Thursday, 28 February 2002, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noontime, at the parking lot
in front of the AIT-Conference Center. All AITians are most welcome.
We count on volunteer donors to save lives by giving a part of themselves
through blood donation.
Doctoral Thesis Presentation
Mr. C. B. Shrestha (RRP 989669), a doctoral candidate in the
RDGR Program, SERD will have his final examination on Monday, 11 March, 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Room S101 (SERD Meeting Room), Energy Program Building
His dissertation is entitled Developing and Testing a Participatory Methodology for Regional Road Network Planning in Nepal

AITAA Doctoral Conference Participation Program
The AITAA sponsors doctoral students to attend an international conference. The aims are to promote interest in sharing of knowledge and experience, and to project the AIT image in research.
The AITAA will provide financial support not exceeding Bt35,000 for one
doctoral student to assist to cover the cost of attendance including
registration, traveling, and accommodation expenses.
