An Invitation to Post-graduate Researchers and Instructors
The Japanese Government-sponsored EDUCATION AND RESEARCH PROJECT FOR
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE GREATER MEKONG SUB-REGION
is inviting post-graduate researchers and instructors to join its six to 12-month program to
upgrade their research capabilities and enable them to respond to future development
needs in the GMS countries.
AIT-Miller Freeman MoU Signing
AIT and Miller Freeman (Thailand) will sign an MoU on the promotion of 'Internet Package for SMEs' and technologies by co-organizing training courses, seminars, conferences and symposia. The signing ceremony will be held on Friday, 27 October in the Board Room, Administration Building.
Final Doctoral Examination Schedule
Wednesday, 1 November from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in room
S101(SERD Meeting Room), Mr. Muhammad Khurshid (ARD987313), a candidate
for the degree of Doctor of Technical Science in the Field of
Natural Resources Management (NRM), Rural Development, Gender and
Resources (RDGR) Program will present his dissertation entitled 'Sustainable Forest
Management Dynamics of the Siran Watershed in the Western Himalayas Region
of Pakistan: A Forest Resource Policy Perspective.
Welcome to AIT
The School of Civil Engineeering welcomes Dr. Kim Kidu a seconded faculty member from Korea. Dr. Kim assumed his appointment as
Associate Professor last week. His secondment is supported by a Korean public company.
Dr. Kim obtained his Master's degree in Structural Engineering and
Construction in 1987 and Ph.D. from the Imperial College of Science,
London in 1992. His area of interest is computational mechanics.
CHILD CENTER- PLAYSCHOOL REGISTRATION FOR JANUARY 2001
Registration for NEW children will take place from 30 October to 30 November.
The Playschool is for children from 2 1/2 to 5 years old while the Child Center is for
children from 5 to 11 years old.
P&G; Junior Executive Camp
Procter & Gamble Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd. is inviting first-year AIT MBA students
(Thai nationals only) to apply for participation in the P&G; Junior Executive Camp to be
organized by the Company at the JW Marriott Hotel, Bangkok, on 7 December.
AP*Retreat meeting
The Internetworking Research Laboratory and the Thailand Network
Information Center (THNIC) hosted an AP*Retreat meeting during 20-22
October, 2000 at AIT. The meeting was attended by 25 leaders from
various leading Internet organizations around the Asia-Pacific region
such as the Asia-Pacific Networking Group, Asia-Pacific Advanced
Network, Asia-Pacific Internet Asscociation and Asia-Pacific Top Level
Domain Names.
Japanese iron and steel exporters meet at AIT
Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, welcomed sponsors of the 25th seminar of the Japan Iron and Steel Exporters Association that was held at AIT on 17-18 October. This was the association's first seminar outside Japan.
AIT signs partnership agreement with Mekong River Commission
In line with its objective to meet the continuing need for advanced education in engineering, science and technology in the Asia-Pacific region, AIT has signed a partnership agreement with the Mekong River Commission (MRC), on 11 October.
