The Bangladesh Chapter of the AIT Alumni Association (AITAA), led by Mr. Emaduddin Ahmad, President, is publishing a members' directory. To-date AIT has produced over 200 alumni from Bangladesh. Another regular publication is a bulletin which provides information on AIT for potential student applicants.

As a follow-up to the Stakeholders' Forum held in September 1999 on the
occasion of AIT's 40th anniversary, the Institute will hold a Donors'
Meeting on 16 and 17 October. The Donors Meeting will help AIT formulate its new five-year strategic plan.

H.E. Mr. Pote Sarasin, founding father of the SEATO Graduate School of
Engineering, precursor of AIT, dies at 95

The AIT Community mourns the passing away on 28 September 2000 of H.E. Mr.
Pote Sarasin, at the age of 95. Mr. Pote, former Prime Minister of Thailand,
was the founding father of the SEATO Graduate School of Engineering, precursor
of the Asian Institute of Technology.

DR. PANNAPA HERABAT, honored by the American Society of Engineering Education

Dr. Pannapa Herabat, a faculty member of the School of Civil Engineering,
and co-authors Adjo Amekudzi, Kristen Sanford Bernhardt and Sue McNeil
were selected for the Best PIC I (Professional Interest Councils) Paper
Award by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The announcement
was made at the 2000 ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition.
