A virtual street tour of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will be available online by the end of the year with the launch of imagery collection by Google Street View. Embedded in Google Maps and Google Earth, this imagery will be a part of Google’s Street View University Campus series.

Ten officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water, Afghanistan, began their training program on drainage and irrigation structures at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 1 September 2015. Welcomed by AIT’s Vice President for Research, Prof. Kanchana Kanchanasut, the Afghan officials come from Kabul, Jalalabad, Kandahar and Mazar.

AIT faculty members Assoc. Professor Kyoko Kusakabe, Gender and Development Studies (GDS), Prof. Rajendra Shrestha, Natural Resources Management (NRM) and researcher and writer Ms. Veena N. (GDS/NRM) have combined to edit a newly published book titled ‘Gender and Land Tenure in the Context of Disaster in Asia’.

The AIT Distinguished Adjunct Professor Research Seminar series got underway on 28 August 2015 with Prof. Buddhima Indraratna of the University of Wollongong, Australia, as the inaugural speaker.

The Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy, formulated by Thailand’s His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, is highlighted at a mobile exhibition in English being held at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Pathumthani province, from 26 August to 2 September 2015.

With 53 per cent of the population not having access to toilet in India, the scale of the sanitation challenge is huge. Related to this are issues of access, equity, dignity, as well as open defecation. Outlining various aspects of the “Conceiving an inclusive and sustainable “Swachh” Urban India” was Shubhagato Dasgupta, Senior Fellow, Center for Policy Research, India.

O P Jindal Global University (JGU), India, has partnered with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to promote executive education and collaborate in capacity building programs, research seminars and workshops. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Sanjeev P Sahni, Principal Director, Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS), and Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, AIT President on 21 August 2015.

Zhejiang University (ZJU), one of the oldest universities in China, has tied up with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for increasing research and academic collaboration. A member of the elite C9 league of universities in China, Zhejiang University, which is located in the city of Hangzhou, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIT on 20 August 2015.

The Uddaraju Ananda Raju Foundation (URAF), a conglomeration of integrated agri-aqua-based companies engaged in the seafood business from India, has partnered with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the two was signed on 20 August 2015 between Mr. U.K. Viswanadha Raju, Managing Trustee, UARF, and Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President for Resource Development (VPRD), who was representing AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai.
