Executives of iGroup (Asia Pacific) Limited on 17 August 2015 met with AIT officials to discuss collaboration on a pilot online learning course that would leverage content from Skillsoft, a global leader in e-learning solutions.

Directorate-General of Personnel Administration (DGPA), Executive Yuan of Taiwan plans to send their civil servants to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for its human resource development program. This was stated by a delegation of DGPA which met with senior AIT officials on 19 August 2015.

Teaching about disasters to school children can be challenging since their memory is often short lived and they find it difficult to relate to disaster-related events. Engineers from the Ministry of Energy and Water of Afghanistan began a training program on “Feasibility studies for irrigation projects” at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 13 August 2015. Led by Mr. Ghulam Masoud Masoud, National Team Leader, UNFAO/IRDP, Kunduz, Afghanistan, the 10-member team of engineers will studying at AIT for two weeks.

An inter-varsity faculty development program between the Asian Institute of Technology and the University of Balochistan (UoB) has paid big dividends for the partner university situated in one of Pakistan’s remotest, least developed regions.

The founder director of the AIT Library and Regional Information Center, Dr. Hwa-Wei Lee, has been honored with the Melvil Dewey Medal by the American Library Association (ALA). The award was presented at the ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition in San Francisco, California, USA on 28 June 2015.

Over 400 students from Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America were welcomed at the Orientation Day program organized at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 4 August 2015. Hailing from 28 countries, these 421 students form the latest batch of students who are now beginning their postgraduate studies in the institute rated among the world’s best for its international orientation.

Thailand’s Military Research and Development Center (MRDC) has signed an agreement with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to explore joint research and development activities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Rear Admiral Sahapong Kruapech, Director, MRDC, Defence Science and Technology Department, and Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, President, AIT on 29 July 2015.

Fifty-one students graduated from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at the informal inter-semester graduation held on 29 July 2015. Graduands hailed from 10 countries with Thailand (14), providing for the largest cohort of students followed by Vietnam (12) and Myanmar (11).
