AIT Gender students initiated Poetry Contest and Self-Defense Workshop to promote inclusivity

November 25th, 2021 – Every year, December 10th marks a significant international event known as “16 Days of Activism,” a campaign that calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

To join the call and commemorate this important event, a group of students at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) from the Gender and Development Studies (GDS) Program has formed a club with a goal to create an inclusive society, starting at an institution near and dear to them – AIT.

With students living and studying in a multicultural environment, the club aimed to promote and heighten “inclusivity” as its goal, as well as envisioned to imprint on everyone the “gender lens” where an inequality or imbalance of power based on gender is visible in everyday life.

New Dual Degree Master’s Program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence with Brunel University London

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Brunel University London (BUL) on 7 December 2021 signed an agreement to offer a new Dual Degree Master’s Program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence beginning in August 2022.Students of the new international program will spend one year at AIT in Thailand and another year at BUL in the United Kingdom, and earn two degrees by fulfilling all academic requirements of both institutions.

Since January of 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has spread across the world. The situation in Thailand was very stable in the summer of 2020--with a minor outbreak in December of that year—and all the way through the early part of 2021. Unfortunately, a fierce wave hit Thailand in April, but things are slowly improving.

136th Graduation Ceremony: AIT Graduates Sailing Through a Perfect Storm

December 21, 2021 – The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) held the 136th Graduation Ceremony virtually, for the graduates to safely celebrate with friends and families amidst another wave of COVID-19 attack. As the distinguished speakers urged the new generation of leaders to make possible the future without waste, to dream high and achieve higher, and to give back when possible, the graduates were also congratulated for having sailed through a Perfect Storm.

BCPG Public Company Limited Supports AIT Student Exchange Scholarship Program

Ms. Vorakarn Chatkaewvorakul, a Thai MBA student in the School of Management, received a Student Exchange Scholarship from BCPG Public Company Limited. This scholarship pays for half of her expenses during the exchange program at EDHEC Business School, France from 3 January 2022 to 5 May 2022.These scholarship exchange programs will give the opportunity to our Master’s students to broaden their international exposure for their further development in order to become responsible citizens of the world, through one-semester academic exchanges with globally recognized prestigious universities with whom AIT has agreements.

AIT Chinese Alumni in Thailand Continuing Support to AIT

A group of AIT Chinese Alumni in Thailand, led by Mr. Liu Chongming (SEC’93), presented to AIT President Dr. Eden Woon the third installment, in the amount of THB 200,000, towards their One Million Baht Student Exchange Scholarship Fund donation.

Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited (RCL) Supports Three Master’s Scholarships

Mr. Sumate Thanthuwanit, AIT alumnus CRD '72 and President of Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited (RCL) has agreed to support three full Master’s scholarships for students with any nationality to be enrolled in the three schools at AIT: School of Engineering & Technology (SET), School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), and School of Management (SOM).  Mr. Twinchok Tanthuwanit, Chief of Regions, Operations, Business, RCL and Dr. Eden Y. Woon, President of AIT signed the agreement on 25thNovember 2021.

RCL started as a Common Feeder Operator, operating its first feeder container ships in 1979 between Bangkok and Singapore.
