Student Assistantships

Student assistantship is a great way to maximize your potential by giving yourself the opportunity to get noticed in today’s job market, pursuing your interests in more depth, and broadening your networks.

“Your graduate education is more than what you learn in the classroom — it is also the work experience you gain”. Student assistantship is a unique experience during graduate studies that provides an excellent learning environment, exposing students to what it is like to be in the workforce, while also providing the added benefit of a financial reward.

What is a Student Assistantship?

A Student Assistant is a graduate student who is offered a specific form of academic employment, for which students must apply and be accepted based on academic excellence and faculty referral. Student assistants receive payment based on the tasks they perform for schools, faculty members, or departments/units.

The objective of the student assistantships is to provide opportunities to the students to gain practical field experience, deepen academic understanding, and to develop a valuable network of contacts to look to for references and advice post-graduation.
