AIT Scholarships for Afghan Female Students: Providing Education Opportunities in an Uncertain Time

Bangkok, March 8, 2022 – For the Spring Semester starting in January, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) initiated scholarships for master’s program that will allow four female students from Afghanistan to obtain an education at AIT.  AIT, the generous donors of these scholarships, and the student recipients are all contributing to the goal of the International Women’s Day 2022:  Break the Bias.

With an Internet of Things (IoT) system developed by Tanka Nath Sharma and Lalaine Jean Ballais, master’s students from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and recipients of ADB-JSP scholarship, growing your own tomatoes can be as easy as browsing TikTok clips on your mobile phone.

Update on AIT during Global Coronavirus Crisis

Since January of 2020, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has spread across the world.  The situation in Thailand was very stable in the summer of 2020--with a minor outbreak in December of that year—and all the way through the early part of 2021.  Unfortunately, a fierce wave hit Thailand in April, 2021, and then  the new Omicron variant hit us in December 2021.  Meanwhile, many places around the world are still heavily affected.
