The School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) welcomes Dr. James E. Rakocy as a Visiting Research Professor in the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management Field of Study for August Semester 2005.

Dr. James E. Rakocy is Acting Vice Provost, Research and Public Service Component, and Director, Agricultural Experiment Station, at University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), USA. He received his B.S. in Zoology from Wisconsin University, M.S.P.H. in Environmental Biology from North Carolina University and Ph.D. in Aquaculture from Auburn University.

Sealed bids are invited for the sale of official vehicles. The vehicles will be offered on an 'as is, where is' basis.

All sealed bids must be submitted not later than 9:00 a.m. on 15 August 2005. Bids will be opened at 10:00 a.m. on the same day on 2nd Floor, Meeting Room, Physical Plant Building, Asian Institute of Technology, No. 58 Moo 9, Paholyothin Highway Km. 42, Klong Luang, Pathumthani.

AIT alumna from Nepal Nominated as a Single Entity for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005

Ms. Binda Pandey (right), an AIT alumna from Gender and Development Studies FoS, SERD, is one of nine Nepali women who are among the 1000 women who have been collectively nominated as a 'single candidate' for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005. Ms. Pandey, who presently serves as Deputy Secretary General of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions, was a thesis advisee of Dr. Kyoko Kusakabe.

The School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) welcomes Dr. Animesh Dutta (right) as an assistant professor in the Energy Field of Study effective 01 July 2005.

Dr. Dutta was a Research Manager with Greenfield Research Incorporated since January 2003. He received his Ph. D from Dalhousie University, Canada in 2002. Before joining to AIT, he has been engaged with a number of national and international projects on clean energy technologies funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), SIDA, National Research Council (NRC) Canada, and Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canada.
