Resignation from Institute Secretary Position

Dr Anulark Techanitisawad (left) has resigned from the Institute Secretary position to return to full-time teaching and research effective November 1, 2002. The Institute expresses its deep appreciation to Dr Anulark for her contribution to the work of the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, Institute and the Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network.

Financial Transactions

The current financial year will end on December 31, 2002. In order to record the financial transaction this year, all bills, invoices and internal charges must reach the Finance Department by Friday, December 20, 2002. Documents arriving after the deadline will be regarded in the next financial year.

SACWET inaugurates AIT operation

SACWET inaugurates AIT operation

On Friday, November 22, AIT President Jean-Louis Armand will preside over the signing ceremony between The Research Center for Water Environmental Technology (RCWET) of the University of Tokyo (UT) and the School of Environment, Resources and Development, AIT, for the establishment of SACWET (Southeast Asian Center for Water Environmental Technology) and inaugurate its first operation at AIT.

A joint steering committee comprising of faculty members from UT and AIT has been formulated which has been able to solicit support for the joint research activities, faculty and student exchange.

Mr. Toran Bahadur Karki, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University (PU), Nepal. Accompanying him is a team of academicians including Prof. Dr. Krishna P. Sharma, Registrar of PU; Mr. Juddha B. Gurung, Chief Executive Officer of the South Asian Institute of Technology (SAIT), Nepal and Mr. Pramod Pradhan, Director of SAIT.

Mr. Prapatpaow Awakul (SCC979754), a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Engineering in the Structural Engineering and Construction Program< School of Civil Engineering (SCE) will have his final examination on Wednesday, November 20, 1:00 p.m. in Room N-227 (SEC Meeting Room).

His dissertation is entitled Interface Conflict in Large Construction Projects: The Case of Thailand.

The Thai Red Cross Society's bloodmobile is scheduled to obtain blood donation on Friday, November 22, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noontime, at the parking lot in front of the AIT-Conference Center.

Volunteer donors are counted to save lives by giving a part of themselves through blood donation.
