Most ICT applications are developed in projects for which a number of innovative ideas have to be created and critical decisions need to take place. This course provides a practical approach to the project design process for ICT applications. The focus is on the use of creative idea generation and problem solving methods, and assessment of appropriate ICT design methods. These issues will be demonstrated through a relevant ICT-application design project implemented by the students, and resulting in a project design document. |

This course provides a link between university studies and working life. During the project students are exposed to practical issues and have the possibility to apply the acquired skills to real life problems. During the project, students work in groups of three to five, addressing a practical design issue in a target organization (AIT, Public organization, Company etc). Each group has a different topic which can be, for example, in the areas of requirement analysis, ICT strategy planning, application development, application evaluation and selection, or implementation of an ICT application. The students will become thoroughly acquainted with project management methods, customer relationship management as well as skills in both individual and group work. |

This course provides an overview in making ICT strategies and technology road-mapping for public and business sector. We view roadmaps as decision aids to improve coordination of activities and resources in rapidly changing, increasingly complex and uncertain environments. Roadmaps describe the linkages among the existing or proposed research programs, development programs, capability targets, and requirements. During the course we emphasize application level product-technology roadmap which is a disciplined planning methodology. Also relationship between technology strategy and business strategy is introduced. |

In past decades, technological innovation has made electrical and computer engineering communities very vibrant. Mobile phones allow us not only to talk to each other but also to listen to music, watch video, and browse Internet. A lot of mobile applications has completely changed people’s life. Cloud computing frees us from platform-dependent applications and lets us access data and services from any supported devices. Social media lets us connect to others and share thoughts. All these technology wonders have made our lives so much more comfortable. Despite great technology leapfrog, human culture remains the same. We still need to solve human problems, whether it is to communicate, to look for information, to be entertained, and so on. To this end, we need to focus on users and their problems. And, we need to find the solution for the defined problems. |

The objective of this course is to provide understanding the following issues:
There are two important tasks for successful ICT projects: Design and management. Designing ICT applications is a complex undertaking requiring understanding of several crucial elements related to people, product, and process. Before launching a project the operational, technical, schedule, and economic feasibility of the project should be carefully analyzed to understand how beneficial or practical the project will be to an organization. Practically most ICT applications are developed in projects involving many people working over a relatively long time, and for which a number of innovative ideas have to be created and critical design decisions need to take place. While design focuses on the products, management emphasises on project execution. Great project execution with systematic and efficient approach will turn great idea into useful products, services, or results. This requires consideration in various dimension such as scope, cost, time. Efficient management of these dimensions will lead to great project outcome with minimal use of resource. This course provides a practical and systematic approach to ICT project design and management. The students will learn to write project charters, draw project scope, estimate project time and expenses. They will learn to monitor and control project so that the project outcome will be as expected. Furthermore, the students will learn to estimate effort for software. |

The objective of this course is to provide the concept of advanced medical healthcare using sophisticated information and communications technology (ICT), so-called medical ICT, which can promote a new big business and improve medical healthcare services among hospitals, homes and peoples in country edges by networking. Ultimately, advanced ICT will realize “Ubiquitous Medicine,” so that medical healthcare can be served for anyone anytime and anywhere. This course also provides demand and trend of ubiquitous medicine and introduces some advanced medical healthcare systems explaining technical requirements to carry out ubiquitous medicine based on such an advanced ICT that can satisfy the requirement to solve various problems. In addition, standardization and regulation, e.g., international standard of wireless BAN IEEE802.15.6 to make medical ICT social service and business successful are introduced.
Moreover, BAN can be applied for a body of robotics, car, building, bridge, etc., for remote maintenance as well as a human body for remote health care. This means that BAN could be a core in internet of things (IoT) and M2M in a sense of machine centric communications rather than human centric communications so than BAN of things can guarantee highly reliable, secure, resilient, or dependable performance against disaster and natural hazard as well as medical BAN against diseases. Last but not the least, a business model of these dependable medicine and BAN of things for global market with regulatory compliance introduced in EU, Japan and the rest of world is explained. |

The objective of this course is to provide students with opportunity to learn the development of applications on mobile computing platforms for current and emerging mobile computing devices, e.g., smart phone, tablet, and any others. Android will be used as a basis for teaching programming techniques and design patterns related to the development of standalone applications and mobile interfaces to enterprise and cloud systems. Topics include memory management; user interface design; user interface building; input methods; data handling; network techniques and URL loading. Students are expected to work on a project that produces a professional-quality mobile application. Projects will be deployed in real-world applications. Course work will include project conception, design, implementation, and pilot testing of mobile phone software applications. After all, students will work at all stages of the software development life-cycle from inception through to implementation and testing. |

There are two major roles that Information Technology (IT) could play in a company. One is to constitute digital products and/or services offered to customers. Another is to provide support for better business process productivity and efficiency. It is the latter that this course will focus on. In particular, we will adopt the discipline of IT Service Management (ITSM) in order to deliver IT as a service to users-employees or customers. Here, we shall cover standards and best practices employed in IT departments. This includes but not limited to strategic planning, creating roadmap, acquiring and developing human resources, standardizing processes, and choosing and operating with chosen technologies. The course shall cover 12 principles of ITSM as indicated below. We shall discuss best practice in the industry like how to choose IT products, benefits and drawbacks of IT products such as VMWare, network management, service desk, and so on. |
